Hiram Peak
Easy/moderate uphill trail from Highland Lakes campground to a ridge next to the mountain, then a semi-difficult scramble up loose rock and scree to another ridge that takes you to the summit. This trip should take a few hours, plus about an hour to drive there from the campground. At the base are the Highland Lakes.

Lake Alpine
Nearby lake for swimming and water sports. Bring swimsuits if you're interested in spending time here, and water sport equipment if you have it. Only a quick 10 minute drive down the road from our campsite!

Calaveras Big Trees SP
Several trail options in the park, ranging from short and paved (North Grove Trail, 1.5 miles) to moderately difficult (River Canyon Trail, 4 miles each way with 1,000 ft. elevation gain and loss). The park is about 15 miles from our campground, and has an entrance fee of $8 per vehicle. More Information on the available trails.
